Siege Guns

Siege Guns were French cannons used for many different target ranges depending on the type of ammunition that was used. When firing at long range, smooth lead balls were used. When firing at medium range, grape shots were used, and at close range, canisters were used.

Siege Guns were usually used against large armies, or large naval fleets. Since Siege Guns were so big, they had to be carried into battle by carriages pulled by horses. Lastly, Siege Guns were very important in the Battle of Yorktown because they were used against much of the British soldiers who fought on foot.
